Solventless Chemistry for Environmentally Ssfe Quality Control

VERI-FRY^®  RAPID TEST

A current trend among processors, suppliers, and other manufacturers is to move quality monitoring operations from the laboratory to the process line. One of the main stumbling blocks to such programs is that many traditional quality control methods do not lend themselves to safe use on a production floor.  The instrumental and wet chemical methods such as titrations or column chromatographic procedures use breakable glassware, flammable solvents and toxic chemicals; items which should never be seen in food processing areas. The costs involved in handling the chemicals, controlling fumes and monitoring the disposal of waste materials further compromise these test procedures. 

Libra Laboratories, Inc. has developed and patented a new technology which we call VERI-FRY^®  Rapid Test

VERI-FRY^®  Rapid Test provides a means of performing desired quality tests at the production line, while also dealing with current concerns for worker safety, liability issues, regulatory issues, and environmental issues. 

VERI-FRY^® Rapid Test can be used to replace traditional quality monitoring tests, thus eliminating delicate instruments, glassware, solvents and toxic chemicals. VERI-FRY^®  reagent gel vials reduce waste and help protect the manufacturing environment.

VERI-FRY^®  Rapid Test is a novel reagent delivery system which embodies carefully selected chemical reagents in a unique gel matrix.  In the presence of the analytes of interest, chemical reactions occur, resulting in a detectable response, such as color formation, which can be measured either by a lab instrument, such as a spectrophotometer, or by use of a simple colorimeter useable at-line, such as those supplied by Libra's Test Kit Technologies group. Each test is carefully correlated with official methods of analysis, for reliability coupled with speed and simplicity. A wide variety of chemistries can be delivered in this format, and LTC is working on many applications of this exciting new technology.

This is in line with Total Quality Management principles. Quality measurements made on-line or at-line, while a process is running, allow real-time feedback for:
